Balanced Diet

A healthy diet consists of a variety of meals in appropriate amounts and proportions to meet the body's demands for calories, proteins, minerals, vitamins, and other nutrients, with a little amount of additional nutrients kept aside to enable the body survive the brief period of leanness. Bioactive phytochemicals such as dietary fibre, phpantioxidants, and nutraceuticals, all of which have health advantages, should be included in a well-balanced diet. In a well-balanced diet, carbohydrates can account for 60-70 percent of total calories, proteins for 10-12 percent, and fat for 20-25 percent.
